Join us for an RCA membership solar observing event, to coincide with the September 10 Telescope Workshop.
Solar observing offers viewers using special equipment an ever-changing closeup look the surface mechanics of our closest star. Solar observing equipment varies greatly, so this event will also allow us to sample different telescopes with different views of the sun’s photosphere and chromosphere. Depending on the sun’s conditions, we may be able to see prominences, sun spots, “islands” of plasma, filaments and other details.
Are you new to the idea of solar observing and want to see what it has to offer?
Do you have solar observing telescope that you’d like to demonstrate to others?
If so, then this is your event!
Please note: Looking at the sun without special equipment for that purpose will cause permanent eye damage or blindness. Telescopes with nighttime viewing optics and filters do not provide enough protections from the sun. If you bring equipment, you are expected to perform due diligence for safety before sharing with others
