Are you new to observing? Do you have a telescope but don’t know where to start? RCA is hosting a Beginners’ Star Party to help RCA members become more comfortable with observing the night sky. Come meet fellow beginners and ask mentors your burning questions, such as:
How does my telescope work? How do I set it up and use it? What constellations are up tonight? How do I find things in the sky? How do I find THAT specific galaxy? How do I use this star chart/planisphere/app? What’s it like going to a dark sky star party?
This star party is ideal for members who have a telescope or binoculars but would like to become more comfortable observing the night sky. If you don’t have a telescope, feel free to join us as you can still learn about star party etiquette and look around to see the various types available.
We’ll make a weather call by noon, Saturday. The event will be on unless we email a cancellation.
